Malawi President to attend AMACEA opening mass 

Malawi President Peter Mutharika will on Thursday attend the opening Mass for the Association of the Members Episcopal Conference of Eastern Africa (AMACEA) at Civo Stadium in the capital Lilongwe.

Presidential Press Secretary Fredrick Ndala says is a statement that President Mutharika is expected to arrive at the stadium at 9:00 am.

The Episcopal Conference of Malawi is this year hosting the 18th plenary for the AMACEA from 16th to 26 July 2014 at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.

“The plenary will bring together 300 delegates who include cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops and the laity from the region, which comprises Eritrea, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan and Zambia,” says Ndala.

Ndala says the delegates will discuss various topics under the theme ‘New Evangelisation through True Conversation and Witnessing to Christian faith.’

The opening mass will be presided over by His Eminence cardinal John Njue who is already in the country.
