Malawi Queens back in training after giving birth
Malawi Queens and Kukoma Diamonds Captain Carol Ntukule Ngwira is back training after giving birth.
Ngwira has been out of action for over 6 months and her return will give more selection headache to Queens and Diamonds Coach Griffin Saenda Senior.
Ngwira told Nyasa Times that she has been doing light training since January and so far so good.
“Yes I can assure you that am back in action following a long spell off the cot. I really missed netball and am happy to return. I have been doing the training with Griffin Saenda Junior (Diamonds assistant coach) and right now am in good shape,” said Ngwira.
The Queens Captain also promised to fight for her position both at club and national level knowing it won’t be easy to get an automatic return.
” I have been coming to Blantyre Youth Centre to watch some games. I know it won’t be easy for me to get straight into the team because the girls really put up an outstanding performance during my absence. But it’s about time and competition for positions will make our team more strong. Am a strong character and that will help me win back my place both at club and national level,” Ngwira said.
Queens and Diamonds Coach Griffin Saenda described Ngwira’s return as a marquee signing for both Diamonds and Queens.
“She was born a leader. The advantage with Carol is that she is a strong character and a no nonsense player which is key in every successful Goal Defender. I know it won’t just be easy for her to get back straight into the team but this a plus to us. It’s like we have recruited a new star,” said Saenda.
During her absence, Diamonds won all the competitions they took part in last year and the Queens too made history at the Fast Five world netball championship having finished third, for the first time in the history of the tournament.
