Malawi Queens edge past Kenya to keep 100% record intact
Malawi Queens are two-for-two at the World Cup 2027 Africa Qualifiers after edging out hosts Kenya 55-47 in a tightly contested group-stage clash.

It’s the perfect follow-up to their opening statement — a 72-38 demolition of Zambia on Saturday — and keeps the Queens firmly on track in their qualification bid.
Malawi set the tone early, racing into a 15-9 lead after the first quarter. Kenya hit back in the second, but couldn’t quite close the gap, with the Queens taking a 28-24 advantage into the break.
The response after half-time was decisive. Malawi pulled clear in the third quarter to lead 41-33 heading into the final period.
Kenya threw everything at the comeback in the fourth, but Malawi stayed composed under pressure, holding firm to seal a 55-47 win and a second victory in as many days.
Two games in, two wins — and the Queens aren’t stopping there. Nigeria are up next on Monday, before Uganda await on Wednesday, as Malawi push on in pursuit of a spot at the 2027 World Cup.
