Malawi Queens face England in December: Three-match test series

Malawi Queens will travel to UK this December for a three-match test series against England just prior to Christmas.

Malawi government approves budget for the Queens to travel to England for three match test series

The Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) said the trip is on after the cash-strapped government has approved the Queens budget to enable the team travel to England.

Malawi Queens  will face off against the English ladies at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on December 14, the Copper Box in London  on December 17 and the final game will be played on December 20 at the University Arena, Worcester.

NAM president Rosy Chinunda said the arrangement with England Netball is that Malawi should meet travel and camp expenses, but the rest will be provided by England Netball.

She said the team will start training camp soon and expects the return of key players Mwai Kumwenda and Tina Kamzati to be back in the squad.

Malawi are currently ranked fifth in the official world rankings and finished in this position at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow following an impressive campaign which saw The Queens almost upset the mighty New Zealand before defeating South Africa in their play-off match.

England will be seeking to bounce back from heartache in Glasgow as the preparations for the 2015 Netball World Cup in Sydney start to intensify.

England v Malawi, Wednesday, December 17@ Copper Box Arena, London, 7:45pm
