Malawi Queens whack Africa Netball Cup champions Uganda 49 -45

Malawi Queens on Monday morning secured a 49-45  victory over  African Netball Championship  defending champions Uganda’s She Crane at Belleville Velodrome in Cape Town, South Africa.

This is a third consecutive win for Malawi Queens coming at the back of another  comfortable 70-42 victory over neighbours and impressive 72- 34 triumph over Kenya on Saturday.

The Queens lost their opening match  56-51 to hosts and the continent’s top-ranked team South Africa’s Spar Proteas.

The euphoric scenes erupted on the fulltime from Malawi players and its officials.

“We give glory to God,” Queens’ coach Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa said.

Netball on the continent is experiencing a growth spurt, on the court at least AS At the World Cup this year in Liverpool, England,   South Africa took fourth, Malawi sixth, Uganda seventh and Zimbabwe — who debuted at the World Cup — made up the last top-eight spot.
