Malawi reps enter Big Bro Africa house: Natasha, Fatima Nkata join ‘The Chase’
Fatima Nkata, a former television presenter and socialite and a self-employed mom Natasha Ann Tonthola from the capital Lilongwe were the Malawian housemates to enter the 2013 edition of the Big Brother house Sunday evening.
Nkata, who was already rumored to be joining the game entered will pomp donning a dress by Malawi’s top fashion designer Lilly Alfonso.
This year’s edition which has been christened The Chase kicked off with an electrifying performance by multiple award winning South African Afro-pop duo, Mafikizolo, who had the crowd rocking to their smash hit “Khona” and were joined on stage by the Mzansi ballet dancers.
Malawi has been represented by Zein Dudha in season one, Code Sangala twice, Hazel Warren, Mzamose Chibambo, Tendai Namate(Lomwe), Felicia Ngoma and last season’s Nafe and Wati Kulemeka.Four times in the finals, the only time the country sniffed thedollars was in season 3 when Warren made it to the last two.
Big Brother Africa is a television show in which a group of people live together in a large house, isolated with no communication with the outside world, but continuously watched by television cameras. The series is produced for M-Net by Endemol South Africa.
The housemates try to win a cash prize by avoiding periodic evictions from the house and surviving for three months.
The 28 Housemates from around Africa will be competing against each other for the USD 300 000 prize.
Fatima’s Bio
TV presenter and MC Fatima is from Lilongwe. She enjoys seafood and her favourite book is Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code and her favourite TV shows are Game of Thrones and Sex in the City.
She studied Forensic Science at New College Nottingham for sometime and is the third born in a family of six. She is the younger sister of renowned UK based urban music producer God’s Favorite [Brian Nkata].
Fatima lists her father as her role model because he is her source of inspiration and the most honest, straightforward person she knows.
The achievement she’s most proud of is giving birth to her daughter.
“There is absolutely no feeling in the world that can top bringing another human into the world,” she says.
She describes herself as “unique, daring, nurturing, fun and loud” and says she makes friends very easily.
Fatima is looking forward to the exposure offered by Big Brother and believes that appearing on the show will be an important stepping stone in her TV presenting career.
Natasha’s Bio
Self-employed mom Natasha hails from Lilongwe. She entered Big Brother because she looks at it as being social, educational, entertaining and a platform for fame.
She describes herself as “fun, adventurous, flirtatious, crazy and sweet” and says that the qualities she likes most in herself are her patience, calmness, jokes and tolerance. She values patience, tolerance and kindness in others too, but despises control freaks, liars and unfaithfulness.
Her favourite musicians include Mampi, Zahara, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Kenny Rogers and her favourite actors are Julia Roberts, Richard Gere, Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence.
Her favourite part of Malawi is Livingstonia Beach and she believes the best thing about Africa is its unity, peace and friendliness of its cultures.
