Malawi reps in Big Brother Africa 8: Fatima Nkata and DJ Maliki tipped

Rumours have become rife on the social network that Fatima Nkata and DJ Maliki both from 101 are the ones to represent Malawi at the Big Brother Africa, dubbed The Chase in South Africa.

However, Multichoice Malawi Sales and Marketing Manager, Chimwemwe Nyirenda declined to disclose the identity of the housemates.

“All I know is that there are 28 housemates and we will know our representatives on Sunday at the Big brother launch,” he said.

While the Facebook page named ‘Team Fatima Nkata-BBA The Chase’ says, “God bless you for all the support, the journey begins on Sunday, this time is for Malawi. The rest of the posts are photos from other countries prospective housemates,” reads part of the post.

The post continues to say: “For the first time, Malawi is represented by a beautiful intelligent, young gifted rep; lets all support her, it’s now or never the journey begins on Sunday. Fatima baby rocks!”

Commenting on the excitements that will be there this season, Managing Director for M-net Africa, Biola Alabi said the audience can expect a show encompassing suspense, emotion, drama and fun.

“This season, the audience can expect a show encompassing suspense, emotions, drama, fun, excitement and quite possibly, as we have seen in previous season, a little romance,” Alabi is quoted by the Nyasa Times as saying.

Other participating countries besides Malawi are Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe all competing for US$300,000 and other prizes.

For 91 days, Africa’s biggest reality series will be screened live 24/7 on Digital Satellite television channels 197 and 198 while GOtv audiences will be able to see highlights.

Airtel is the headline sponsor for this season’s big brother Africa themed The Chase.

On Sunday, May 26, 2013, it will be known whether the news of Fatima and Maliki’s participation to the BB8 is true or not. Usually representatives to Big Brother Africa become known at the launch of every show.—Malawi News Agency
