The tax body said in a letter dated April 20, 2016  that it has observed “with concern” that MPs have been abusing their priviledges by importing speficied number of vehicles duty free by importing some for third parties.

Malata said the abuse dates back in 1999 and the body has lost a lot of revenue.

He said MRA  wants to persuade the lawmakers on the  need not to abuse their priviledges.

Malata said in the letter that the duty free status on motor vehicles is accorded to MPs “and not third parties.”

MPs are entitled to import duty free two vehicles in the five-year period.

This is not abuse in any sense. MRA states in the letter to say they are fully aware the number of units each MP is entitled which is 2 within 5 years. How is this exceeded. Does MRA not keep records and if they do, how is this allowed. If they don’t keep records, which is highly unlikely, how did they find out this?

Why duty free vehicles for MPs? someone who is equally paid a salary like any civil servant(even huge salary) is given such a privileged yet me and my other poor fellow in the same government pay huge taxes if we dare to import a vehicle. what a country? such laws are supposed to be scraped off so that we all feel the pitch. How do you expect such people to lobby for better taxes for the common person. Don’t forget,it is the poor person in the village who pays such taxes for the MPs. Very selfish nation.

Yet Obama in a very rich nation pays tax. Those that are busy saying donors have abandoned us don’t want to pay tax for the nation they voluntarily said they want to serve. Stupid federation, stupid leaders of a stupid nation
