Malawi stars Ng’ambi, Gaba on target in South Africa

Malawian stars Robert Ng’ambi and Hellings Gabadinho Mhango shined in South Africa after leading their teams Platinum Stars and Bloemfotein Celtic to victories on Wednesday in the Absa Premiership.

Ng’ambi’s Stars beat Premiership league leaders Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 when the midfielder scored the second in the 59th minute after he had provided an assist for the first netted by Siphelele Mthembu.

It was ironical that the Amakhosi’s last defeat was in November last year at the hands of the Platinum Stars in the Telekom Knockout competition.

“Chiefs, who were previously unbeaten in 15 games in all competitions, were undone by goals either side of the break from Siphelele Mthembu and Robert Ng’ambi at Royal Bafokeng Stadium,” states a report on Kickoff.

Ng’ambi, who is enjoying a good form, was substituted in the 89th minute for Henrico Botes.

Gabadinho Mhango also scored the second goal for Celtic in the 52ndminute as his team beat compatriot Esau Kanyenda’s side Polokwane 2-1.

Coming off the bench at the start of the second half the former Bullets striker made an impact to score the goal.

“Celtic made a change at the start of the second half, introducing Mhango off the bench. The substitute made an impact on 53 minutes when he got on the end of a pass from Lamola and beat Marumo to make it 2-1,” Kickoff.com reports.

“Celtic prevailed via strikes either side of the break from Joel Mogorosi and Hellings Mhango, while Moffat Mdluli netted for struggling City, who had Tlou Molekwane sent off in the 65th minute at Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium.”
