Malawi to invest more in education, Mutharika pledges

Malawi President Peter Mutharika has pledged that his administration will invest more in education as it ealizes the important role the sector plays in the development of the country.

The Head of State mad ethe pldeg on Wednesday when he officially opened Chiradzulu Teacher’s Training College (TTC) in Chiradzulu.

He also promised to raise the profile of the teaching profession.

“My government is committed to improving the quality of education in this country. We are increasing teachers in order to reduce teacher-pupil ratio in our primary schools.

“My government wants to make sure that teachers also live a good life like Engineers, lawyers and doctors as a way of motivating them to mould our children’s future with dedication,” said Mutharika.

The 145 000 square meters campus has been constructed with funds from UNICEF, with the support of Switzerland National Committee for UNICEF.

“Let us be people who raise the flag of our standards very high. We deserve the best and must aspire to be at our best. Education is where we begin the making of a nation,” pointed out Mutharika.

I am surprised with this pledge to raise the profile of teachers to equal that of engineers, lawyers etc. How is Mutharika going to do this? This is obviously one of the empty promises Mutharika is fond of making. Where is he going to get the money to fulfill this promise?

Keep on investing more in education
Meanwhile there is no job on the market
Companies a closing down due to the water shortage and electricity loadshedding your leadership brought in
Therefore high unemployment rate.
I realy don’t understand your priorities coz all these things MUST work together.
As of now we are assured of one thing,
