Malawi to watch Cosafa Cup live on MBC TV

Malawian soccer fanatics can now have something to smile of following the announcement by MBC TV that the station will beam all the matches to be played at the15th edition of the Cosafa Cup which starts on 24th and ends on 31st May, 2015.

Acting director of programmes Albert Mungomo said MBC –TV will cover all the 22 games while the radio will dwell much on selected games for the tournament scheduled for May 17 t0 31 in South Africa.

MBC Director of Commercial Services Levi Nkunika said they have bought the broadcasting rights from Cosafa agents “to enable Malawians to follow their team in the tournament.”

He boosted that this is part of the stations mandate to provide its viewers with entertainment.

“As a national broadcaster, our mandate is to educate, inform and entertain and we would like to offer entertainment to soccer-loving Malawians” Nkunika said.

Malawi national soccer team Flames will play their first game on May 24 against the Mamba’s of Mozambique.

Flames coaches Young Chimodzi and Jack Chamangwana have among other things been given a target of winning the Cosafa Cup if they are to have their contracts extended.

The Flames preparations for the tournament however started on a bad note over the weekend when they were beaten 2-0 by the Chipolopolo of Zambia.
