Malawi VP Kachali cautions PP aspirants, leaders
Malawi Vice President Khumbo Kachali, who is also Peoples Party (PP) VP – responsible for operations – has warned PP leaders to desist from being greedy by favoring parliamentary aspirants with financial muscle at the expense of others.
Howevr, Kachali asked the aspirants not to be stingy but give out monetary handouts.
“Mbweni mukuruta kwa Afumu kukajirongora mbweni mukufumapo waka? Haikona! (You cannot introduce yourself to Chief and not give him or her something. That is unacceptable),” he cautioned.
Kachali said PP leaders should also not only patronize meetings or rallies of those aspirants with money ready to spend, saying such practices dent the party’s image and of its leadership.
“As aspirants do not divide the party’s leadership through gossiping,” he advised.
The Veep said this at a development rally held at Luzi primary School in Mzimba on Tuesday where he lined up a number of aspirants for different constituencies and wards for elections in less than a year.
“As PP we welcome all those that wish to stand on our ticket and we hope you will all win. However, you have to be strong because there is tough competition out there. I beg you to work with the party leadership. Do not campaign alone and respect party leadership,” Kachali said.
He then turned to PP supporters saying they should not give false hopes to aspirants in the event that they know the theu will not make it during primaries with the intention of eating their money.
“If you see that they cannot pull through tell them before they exhaust all their resources,” Kachali said.
