Malawi woman arrested for killing husband: 4 nabbed for murder in Zomba
A 38 year old woman in central region border district of Mchinji has been arrested by police for allegedly killing her husband.
Mchinji police spokesperson Moses Nyirenda identified the suspect as Alefa Kaliya of Chanza Village, T/A Malili in Lilongwe district and the victim as Victor Mangani aged 34 of Katawa Village T/A Mduwa in Mchinji district.
According to Malawi News Agency report, Alefa hit her husband with a hoe in the head at night, an action which let her husband lose a lot of blood.
“When we heard the news we rushed to place and found Victor Mangani unconscious because he lost a lot of blood. We took him to Mikundi Health Centre for medical assistance but unfortunately the doctors said we had brought an already dead person,” said Nyirenda.
He however said police are yet to establish a reason as to why Alefa hit her husband with a hoe.
Police have pressed murder charges contrary to section 202 of the Penal Code.
Another incident happened in the district on 25 September when Maziko Josaya aged 62 of Mtulila Village, T/A Kapondo was reportedly found dead in his farm.
In another development, Police in Zomba have arrested two people to answer murder and burglary charges.
The suspects, identified as Fletcher Chilipa, 20 and Colleen Kausiwa Mbendera, are believed to have broken into the house Dr Annie Chiponda, a lecture a Chancellor College in Zomba where they stole various items worth millions of Kwacha after allegedly killing a 65 year-old guard.
The author has quoted a wrong section of the Penal Code. Murder is section 209 of Penal Code and not section 202
So Mbendera,s son killed the 65 yrs ols guard,?

Meanwhile the IG of police is busy reading machitidwe atumwi and praying for inspiration. Get you butt on the road I say doing night patrols with your boys otherwise just resign and let rambo like men come protect us. This nonsense where a graduate is given any job should stop hence forth. Teachers should go and teach. Agriculture guys should go work ku munda, medical assistants should go work in health centers.
