Malawian father burns own child for tasting his food

A 12-year-old Malawian boy is in great anguish after his biological father allegedly burnt his hands in a hot frying pan for testing his rice pudding.

The father, 32-year-old Master Zulu, has since been apprehended by police and charged with an offence of intending to cause grievous body harm which is contrary to section 353 of the Penal Code and attracts a maximum sentence of life imprisonment with hard labour.

Mzuzu Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Maurice Chapola said the incident occurred last Friday when the suspect found the victim testing his food he had kept in the house.hands burnt

“The suspect reportedly got upset upset with the child after he found him eating his rice pudding and immediately put his hands in a hot frying pan,” said Chapola.

The police publicist further said the matter was reported to police by a patriotic citizen after the suspect, who hails from Jenjewa Village, T/A Zulu in Mchinji District and his wife concealed the matter.

And during interrogation at police, Zulu, who was expected to appear in court any day this week to answer the charge admitted the offence and said he burnt his son as a way of reforming him to stop his wicked conduct.
