Malawian held in South Africa for ‘raping’ sister-in-law

A 42-year-old Malawian man has been arrested in Cape Town, South Africa for allegedly raping his sister-in-law aged 10.

Steven Moyo from Salima district appeared before Cape Town Magistrate court on Tuesday to be formally charged of rape.

He denied the charge.

Moyo is accused that on 17th June 2012, invited the 10-year-old girl to his bedroom when his wife was admitted at the hospital after miscarrying a six month pregnant.

Sexual violence has become increasingly pervasive amongst Malaiwans

Reports says when the girl entered the bedroom the suspect dragged her on the bed where he sexually assaulted her,

The victim is said to have narrated the whole ordeal to her teacher who took her to hospital for a medical test.

Moyo was arrested on 18th June 2012.

He claims his wife is framing him on the charges so that she inherits his property when court jail him.

Court has adjourned the case expected to go on full trial.
