Malawian hitmaker Driemo to share stage with African music royalty as star-studded Africa Connect line-up revealed

Malawian singer Driemo is poised for his biggest international moment yet — after landing a spot on the bill for the star-studded Africa Connect concert in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The homegrown hitmaker will perform alongside some of the continent’s most in-demand acts, including Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr, Tanzanian favourite Diamond Platnumz and Zambia’s Yo Maps, when the show hits the Polo Field at the Zimbabwe Showgrounds on September 19.

The blockbuster event, put together by Bplatinum Events alongside Simuyi Holdings, is billed as a 15-hour entertainment marathon — and organisers are pulling out all the stops to make it one of the region’s biggest music nights of the year.

For Driemo, it’s a major coup. Sharing a stage with names as big as Ayra Starr and Diamond Platnumz places him firmly among Africa’s contemporary music elite — and offers a golden opportunity to win over fans far beyond Malawi’s borders.

Organisers are branding the show ‘Africa Connect’, with the concert designed to unite artists and audiences from across the continent under one roof.

Fans hoping to be there will need to dig into their pockets, with tickets ranging from K500 for standard entry to a jaw-dropping K8,000 for VVVIP guests wanting the full Golden Circle experience. Gate entry will set fans back K700, while VIP and Golden Circle tickets are priced at K2,500 and K5,000 respectively.

Music lovers from across Zimbabwe — and further afield — are expected to flock to the concert, with the heavyweight line-up giving Driemo a rare chance to fly Malawi’s flag on a major regional stage.

It’s the latest milestone for the singer, who has steadily built a name for himself as one of Malawi’s most exciting musical exports, with his sound increasingly finding fans well beyond home turf.
