Malawians, who spoke to Nyasa Times from South Africa on Monday when they went to view his body at Diepsloot mortuary, said Theu bled to death after he was subjected to a ‘barbaric’ knives attack.

He was repeatedly slashed before being left for dead during the suspected robbery.

“He was found by his fellow Malawian neighbour the next day in his room in a pool of his blood.”

Malawians described Theu as “a kind guy who would never, ever hurt anyone.”

His body is expected to be repatriated to Malawi next week Tuesday.

The deceased’s wife and children are in Mzimba but only one son is in South Africa.
