Malawian players inspired their respective clubs to chalk victories in South Africa top league opening games during midweek fixtures.
Former Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Robert Ng’ambi and striker Gabadinho Mhango inspired Platinum Stars and Bid Wits FC to 1-0 and 2-1 victories over heavyweights Supersport and Kaizer Chiefs respectively.
Ng’ambi in the 62nd minute to give Platinum Stars who were reduced to 10 men, to perfect start on Wednesdayafter powering home a freekick from Vuyo Mere while Mhango provided an assist for one of Wits’ goals as he was named man of the match.
This is a boost particularly the Malawian midfielder’s national team return who was controversially reduced to a peripheral figure during the one-year tenure of coach Ernest Mtawali.
Caretaker coach Burundian Nsanzarwimo Ramadhan has included him in the squad to face Swaziland in a formality Africa Cup of Nations qualifier as he will seek the team’s first win of the botched up campaign that led to the premature end of Mtawali’s promising coaching career.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
