Malawian student at world youth panorama in Hague

Malawian student Maggie Phiri will be part of the 50 world youth representing the voices and ideas of the youths at the HOPE XXL Peace Panorama taking place from 18-21 September in Hague.

Phiri, 24, named among the Top 25 Young African Woman with potential and Determination to lead the change by Moremi  Initiative for Women Leadership and Development in Africa (MILEAD) , is one of the youths who will represent the voice of many other youth on the future vision of young people on their way to the United Nations.

She will be involved in many interactive dialogues, forums and discussions with experts, professionals, researchers as well as other youths.

“As a Malawian and a youth I believe it’s a privilege to have our voice represented at international level and contribute in making a difference in shaping a future that is sustainable and good for all,” Phiri, a Master student in Rural Development and Natural Resources Management at Swedish University of Agriculture Sciences, told Nyasa Times.

“ I thank God for such an opportunity of which I believe will be a doorway for more opportunities to fellow Malawians to be involved in creating the change they visualize as we strive towards a justifiable globe. As young people we are the leaders of tomorrow but the task of our abilities in shaping tomorrow begins now and everyone has a part to play,” she said.

The event brings together young people from all over the world to develop a joint vision of peace.

HOPE XXL is a youth initiative that wants to ensure that all world citizens can achieve a life that they would grade as ‘good’ and the young people wants to give direction to the road towards societies in which each individual has equal opportunities.

Thousands of young people have worked together to draft the(a manifesto stating young people’s ideas on issues ranging from sustainability and conflict to international cooperation and human rights which is aimed at being  presented as the global youth vision on the future to the United Nations General Assembly.
