Malawians rock the red carpet at Achievers Awards in UK
The first edition of Malawi Achievers Awards took place at the four-star Marriot Hotel in Leicester last Saturday organised by Malawi Association UK.
Glamour was the order of the night at the inagural dinner. Floor length gowns embellished with diamante and sequins proved a favourite for the ladies and an audience adorned in their finest watched on as several members of Malawians were honoured.
Felix Banda, coordinator of 2014 awards, said the event says the awards gala presents an opportunity to bring together the Malawian community as one and celebrate their achievements.








Winners included Dr Mpalive Msiska who claimed the award for academic achievement, Patricia Chirwa for an inspiritational award from coming out in the open with her HIV Status and taking an actvisim role in HIV/Aids.

Watipaso Mkandawire scooped special recognition award, Nyasa Times also received the prize in the online media
The highlights was however the way Malawians showed off true personal style on the red carpet before the event.
Many ladies, gentlemen and couples trooped to steal the red-carpet spotlight and it proved that Malawians have mastered the art of the personal style statement.
