Malawians warned not to get duped in on-line car purchase

Malawians have been cautioned in making on-line car purchases, saying about  40 people have been victims of “fraud”  since 2009.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign and International Cooperationon said Malawians have been duped for  purchasing from “dubious car companies outside the country.”

Malawi Government   advised potential car buyers to be “very cautious before making internet purchases to avoid being duped by these dubious car dealers.”

The statement  said “where necessary and possible,” it will render assistance in verifying the existence and reputation of the companies.

In recent years, Malawi has seen an influx of used cars, mostly imported from Japan. The vehicles are sold at low prices, some as cheap as 2,500 dollars apiece.
