Malawi’s Gaba keep Bidvest PSL title hopes alive

Malawi national team star striker Gabadinho Mhango ended his two-game goal drought by scoring in the team’s 3-1 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic in South Africa’s top league, Absa Premiership on Friday.

Gabadinho on scoring spree

The Malawian burstling striker scored his eighth league in the 73rd minute cushioning the lead which they eventually protected to secure maximum points.

The former Nyasa Big Bullets striker played full game after he was substituted in the 60th minute the previous against fellow title contenders, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Thulani Hlatshwayo put the Clever Boys in the lead in the eighth minute but relegation-threatened Celtic equalised on half hour mark through Kabelo Mahlasela which proved to be not enough to save them.

Bidvest restored the lead on the hourmark through Nkhwanazi before Gabadinho’s third goal condemned his compatriots striker Atusaye Nyondo and coach John Maduka to their undesirable loss.

The Bidvest are second to league leaders Cape Town City with 37 points from 18 games but have two games in hand.

But for compatriot Nyondo, who was substituted in the 79, it was a bad result which has left them rooted with 18 points, just four points above the relegation zone.
