He said his return to music live performance last year after a long absence should not be a surprise.

“I love music and since I formed Alleluyah Band 35 years ago I have done nothing else apart from music,” he said.

“I stopped being a soccer fanatic.”

The 50-year-old musician has been performing with his Alleluyah on a number of engagements including entertainment joints.

He was the headliner artist during the Carlsberg Street Party held in Blantyre on the New Year’s Eve.

The Malawi music icon has groomed a lot of musicians over the years through Alleluyah Band and his Imbirani Yahwe Studio (IY Studio), one of the first recording music studios in the country.

Most musicians including Paul’s brother Lucius, Billy Kaunda, Mlaka Maliro, Coss Chiwalo, Charles Sinetre, Charles Nsaku, Patrick Abig Tung’ande shot to fame through Alleluyah Band and IY Studio.

Alleluyah Band has also produced offshoots music groups such as the renowned Zembani Band of Lucius Banda, Ali ku Town Sounds of Charles Nsaku, Armageddon Band of Billy Kaunda.
