Malawi’s top ref passes FIFA Fitness Test in Cameroon

Malawi’s world class Fifa ranked assistant women’s referee Bernadettar Kwimbira Mzika has passed the dreaded Fifa Fitness Test on Thursday held on the sidelines of Elite Referees coaching course.

The routine test was held in the course of Confederation of African Football (CAF) Elite Referees course being held in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Kwimbira Mzika, the former middle distance athlete, did not her success as six participants from Nigeria, Tunisia, Ghana, Egypt, Ivory Coast, including the host nation Cameroon failed.

“This is when we are calling it a day for today.The test was at National Stadium, Yaounde. Out of 47 that were invited for the course, 3 failed to come due to injuries and illnesses. So we are now 44. Out of 44, 27 Center referees and 17 Assistant Referees.

“Out of 44, 8 (4 center and 4 Assistants) were excused from taking part in the test 4 who just came back from Fifa U-17 Womens World Cup tournament in Jordan and 4 that are going for Fifa U20 Womens World Cup tournament in Papau New Guinea. After the course Caf will select referees for the 10th Women African Cup of Nations to take place in Cameroon from 19th November to 3rd December and the Malawian star referee is looking forward to make the cut for what would be her fourth consecutive African Cup of Nations Women’s Cup after Equatorial Guinea, South Africa and Namibia.”

If the Malawian is to be selected for the tournament, it will be another record breaking for her as it will be her foruth African Cup of Nations in a row..

She is the only Malawian participating at the elite course which is ending on Sunday. Last year she made her debut Olympic Games duty at Rio 2016 Games in Brazil after another milestone of
