Malidadi claims first hat-trick as Sure Stream gets baptism of fire in Malawi TNM Super League
Forward John Junior Malidadi on Saturday claimed first hat trick of the season as his central region based side Blue Eagles whipped rookies Sure Stream FC 4-2 in their first 2015 K90 million TNM Super League match played at Kamuzu Stadium.
Malidadi also becomes first player to receive Matindi FM branded match for scoring three goals in one game.
Matindi FM, a privately owned commercial station, announced last week it will be recognizing players who will be scoring at least three goals in one game with the station’s branded Match Ball and other “valuable items”.
The initiative is aimed at adding more value and excitement to the game of football in the country, according to the station’s head of sports, Williams Gondwa, who was voted “2014 TNM Top Commentator”.
“We are very certain that match balls will not only add value and excitement but also inspire and help our players, mainly strikers perform at their best,” said Gondwa.
Sure Stream FC, under the tutelage of former Flames Peter Mponda and highly touted of carpet football, joined the TNM fray after they emerged champions of the 2014 Southern Region Premier League.
Boosting of Flames Under 17 stars Brighton Munthali, Enerst Tambe, captain Levi Maganizo, Mike Mkwate and Henry Chimaimba, the rookies failed to translate their carpet football into tangible results despite being the first to hit the back of the net.
“I am so happy that I have scored three vital goals as eyes this season’s golden boot award. I have started the campaign on good and I look forward to scoring more goals not only win the golden boot award but also the championship,” said Malidadi in post-match interview.
Sure Stream coach Peter Mponda said they were to blame for the loss because his players were not
concentrating in the first half.
“We respected Blue Eagles too much in the first half otherwise it was not a bad perfomance from my boys especially in the second half,” said Mponda.
Elsewhere, defending champions Big Bullets beat Silver Striker 2-1 in launch game to collect three maximum points. They scored through Chiukepo Msowoya and defender Yamikani Fodya while the Bankers got the consolation through Sam Gunda.—Additional reporting by Jeromy Kadewere, Nyasa Times

4 to 2 is not baptism of fire. These kids are the future of Malawi football not these other guys who just play without brains.mmera mpoyamba
Mwakula mwatha aphwanga. This is TNM Superleagea. Leave your fowerly football aside. What you should know is collecting maxmum points is the only tactict in the TNM Superleage. Even if you play like Barcelona but you won’t achive anything. Tell your Coachplayer that what matters most is collecting points. Look at Chelsea vs Man United, Unted played well, but at the end they lost, 1-0.
