Man arrested for sexually assaulting own children in Malawi

Police in Blantyre have confirmed the arrest of man suspected to have been defiling his own 6-year-old daughter and sodomizing his own 14-year-old son at his residence at Naperi Township.

Blantyre police spokesperson Lameck Thembachako told Nyasa Times on Monday that the arrest of Andrew Mazunda a former employee of Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi in Blantyre comes after his wife reported the incident to the police on April 11.

“The wife told the police that she once found his husband sodomizing his 14 year son in the sitting room in February and later in the same month her 6-year-old daughter complained to her that she was feeling pains in her private parts and told her  that she was defiled by her father,” he  said.

Thembachako said surprisingly the wife never reported the incident to the police until on 11th April after a family meeting involving her sisters where it is said that she complained about her husband’s behaviorarrested

“It seems it is her sisters who forced her to report the matter to police which led to the arrest of the suspect who is now kept at Soche police,” said Thembachako.

He said the police are now waiting for the results of medical examinations on the two children which seeks trace any penetration on their private parts.

“Once the results of medical examinations ascertain penetration, the suspect is likely to answer two charges of defilement and sodomy,” said Thembachako.
