‘Man of God’ urges Nigerian leader to emulate Malawi Pres. Banda

Nigeria’s renowned ‘man of God’ Most Reverend Samuel Abidoye has said Malawi’s leader Joyce Banda is the kind of person they would want to rule Nigeria urging president Goodluck Jonathan to learn from her.

Nyasa Times has learnt that the pastor, who is also president of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, said it is because Nigeria’s resources aren’t judiciously utilised that most Nigerians are basking in abject poverty and unemployment.

“Pres. [Goodluck] Jonathan must emulate his Malawian counterpart, Joyce Banda, who pays more attention to the welfare of the people,” Abidoye told Nigeria’s The Punch.

He added: “Nigeria is so blessed with everything to take care of everybody, but many cannot eat three square meals; some can’t even eat two.”

Banda became Malawi Head of State  after the death of her predecessor Bingu wa Mutharika who died of cardiac arrest while in office.

Much as she continues to face stiff criticism from the opposition and a section of civil society leaders, her economic policies have been widely commended by donors.
