Married for Life Programme to strengthen marriages -Bishop

Married for Life Programme being implemented in Malawi’s commercial capital, Blantyre is set to strengthen marriages, according to Bishop Moffat Mbale of Kingdom Keys Mission.

He was speaking during the graduation of seven couples who completed a 12-week training programme on how they can strengthen their marriage, resolve their differences and live together happily as a family.

The programme is being implemented by the ministry called ‘Two for One’, which is the combination of three Ministries, called Nova Shalom, Marriage Ministries International and University of The Family.

The Bishop said they believe that marriage should begin on a solid foundation of personal holiness saying that the course takes couples to a journey of discovery and preparation for the most important relationship of their lives.

“We believe that when homes are strong, churches are strong too and the nation is strong, the scriptures teach couples how to walk in the fullness of their one flesh relationship and our goal is to have a strong powerhouse on Jesus Christ established in every community, town and city in Malawi.

“We try to deal with critical family issues as most of the times couples get into marriage with unresolved issues, we believe that the things we carry, the hates and the emotional imbalance if are not solved can destroy marriages,” he said at the ministry’s headquarters in Chinyonga Township.

The Bishop observed most couples get into marriage without understanding the purpose.

“The impact of the programme on couples is almost immediate because spouses have begun to confess to each other and other marriages have been saved, so the effect and impact is guaranteed,” he said.

He further explained that this is the very important aspect of marriage preparation saying that they see a lot of success amongst most of the couples they have dealt with.

Mbale said the programme is not a ‘city programme’ because they want to target all couples who are interested in the programme wherever they are as their mission is to develop them.

“Any couples who that have the desire to be trained are welcome and we are in the process of establishing a national office to reach out to as many couples as possible,” the Bishop said, explaining that their main ‘manual’ for these programmes is the Holy Bible.

The family of Thembi and Michael Chirwa said they benefited a lot from the course saying they learned the importance of praying together as husband and wife apart from praying as a family.

They said that they saw God transforming them and gave them a picture of what marriage is all about and moved them from one level of faith to another.

The family of Peter and Melayi Mhone said they learned a lot of things and realized that they must know everything that happened to each other’s life to strengthen their marriage.

They also said that they learned about forgiveness, saying that prior to the course they thought that they were very holy but they realized that they had some things which they needed to forgive each other as husband and wife.

Married for Life Programme is a programme that works with ministries and individual couples across the globe. It provides four major courses namely One for Life, Married for Life, Parents for Life and You Two for One.
