Dr Mary Shawa has been moved as secretary for nutrition, HIV and AIDS in the president’s office, to ministry of gender.
Shawa confirmed receiving her redeployment letter on Tuesday and that she has reported for her new job.
She however said the redeployment is “welcomed”.
Shawa said she has been given the role of on “overseer” of the Ministry of Gender.
Her movement is part of the moves by Malawi’s new President, Joyce Banda to consolidate her power.
On Tuesday, Her Excellency dismissed Information Minister Patricia Kaliati and police Chief Peter Mukhito.
Analysts say President Banda wants to put in her government people she can trust.
Banda, the second currently serving woman president in Africa, is trying to build on what Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf started when she was elected Africa’s first woman president.
