Maseko bitter with Mutharika: Fears being dumped

Reports that Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Presidential Peter Mutharika intends to marry a Benin lady are said to have infuriated Balaka North MP Getrude Maseko who has been acting as ‘First Lady’ for the party.

Maseko’s two lady MP’s close friends Cecilia Chazama and Agness Penemulungu were overheard joking at Parliament that their “first lady” was being dumped for a lady from Benin, the wedding expected to take place after the party’s convention in November.

Akuti Grace wa fyuma kwambiri, sakuyankhulana olo kupezeka mu Lilongwe. Iyeyo amayembekezera kuti zingatheke? Awafunse achina Anna Kachikho mmene ankapangira muja,”Chazama is said to have been telling Penemulungu at the MP’s lounge last week.

Peter Mutharika: Kissing Maseko

Penemulungu, whose last moments with late President Bingu wa Mutharika have remained a mystery but are said to have also angered former First Lady Callista Mutharika, is said to have said she knew all along that Professor Peter Mutharika was playing the ‘young girl.”

Koma iwowa amasiyana zaka pafupifupi 30, iye uja nkumatiyesa tingazamugwadire,” Penemulungu is said to have responded as they moved towards their mail.

Penemulungu is a well known gossiper in the party.

Maseko who is the only lady to have been kissed on the mouth publicly by Peter Mutharika is said to have decided to reside in her constituency after she was informed of the pending weddings, despite being an active participant in all party programmes.

Some overzealous party and parliamentarians used to carry her handbag when Professor Mutharika was in Cabinet, with others publicly kneeling before the slim Parliamentarian until the death of late Bingu wa Mutharika.

Maseko cut off the phone when the topic was introduced to her.
