Masiye’s brace sink Dwangwa as Eagles go top: Malawi TNM Super League
After dominating the top spot in the first round of the 2016-2017 Super League soccer season, Lilongwe based Area 30 Police Corps Blue Eagles are back at the summit of the TNM Super league after stunning visiting Dwangwa United 2-1 at the Nankhaka Ground in a mid-week fixture.
Phillip Masiye scored a goal in each half that handed the corps the all important and needed three points.
The visitors scored their consolation goal through Jack Maoni.
With the victory, the Eagles have jumped three places up from fourth to tople the 16 member log table with 45 points.
They have dislodged Salima based soldiers Mafco FC who have been relegated to the second position with 44 points.
Both teams have played 24 games.
This means that Silver who were on second will shift to third position which was occupied by Nyasa Big Bullets who have been pushed further to fourth position.
Silver have 43 points while Nyasa Big Bullets have 42 but the Bankers slightly still have have an advantage over Bullets as they have a game in hand.
The remaining positions on the log table remains unchanged until this coming weekend as Super League of Malawi has also lined up a number of games.
Mafco stand a chance of returning to the top if they beat Dwangwa United as Blue Eagles will be on break.
Bullets can also reach 45 points to make a tie with the current leaders if they beat visiting Karonga United at Kamuzu Stadium.
