MCP elects Osborne Shela as north regional chair
Former director of water in the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Osborne Shela, was on Saturday voted regional chairman for the north in the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Shela was voted during regional elections in the North held in Mzuzu City to help in rebuilding of the MCP.
During the elections, Gracious Soko was voted vice-chairperson, Goodwin Mvula second vice-chairperson, Dilla Nyimba secretary, councillor Alexander Mwakikunga was elected vice-secretary while Hastings Mvula is second vice-secretary.
“ I am ready for the task ahead,” said Shela.
“MCP will gain more ground in the north,” he added.
“You just have to wait for few weeks or months to see what we are rolling out. We have already started,” said the new regional boss.
MCP administrative secretary Potipher Chidaya said the elections were “peaceful” and fair.
Chidaya said MCP is set to rebuild the party in readiness for 2019 general elections.
