Civil servants at Capital Hill in Lilongwe went on the rampage and looted billions of Kwachas from government coffers.

A lot of businesses were paid for services not delivered and  a lot of money was stolen through loopholes in the Integrated Fince Management Information System (IFMIS) central payment system that the government has been using since 2005.

Among other companies linked to the cash0gate scandal is Crossmarketing which is owned by MCP key donors Lekani and Billiat Loga.

Crossmarketing is alleged to have been fraudulently paid K68 million (US$183 783) without delivering any services to the government.

According to records at the Registrar General, the company was registered on 26 April 2006 with Shareholders listed as Lekani Lawrence Loga of Area 43 with K50, 000 shares, Charles Kapapa of Chitedze holding K50, 000 shares, Khumbo Nyirenda of Area 18 as having K50,000 shares, Billiat Loga of Area 18 as having K50,000 shares and Luke Kasamba holding K50 000 ordinary shares.

Chakwera is said to have had his political campaign oiled by the resources mostly coming from the Loga’s and Kamwangala.
