The main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has reshuffled its National Executive Committee (NEC) by replacing Henry Kamata with Member of Parliament Maxson Tholela as its Director of elections.
Kamata has been moved to deputize Jean Sendeza at Political Affairs, a position which Tholela was holding.
Briefing reporters at the party’s headquarters in Lilongwe, MCP spokesperson Jessie Kabwila said the reshuffle follows the party’s rebuiding towards the 2019 elections.
“In any party after any general elections, there is a need to sit back, refresh and strategies. This is not a demotion or a promotion but one way of strengthening the party.
“This process is a sign of rebirth. Any person can be entrusted with any position the party thinks capable for that person,” said Kabwila.
