MCP rubbishes DPP ’50-year rule’ fantasy: Njobvuyalema asks Kudontoni to tame his tongue

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has rubbished remarks made by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Secretary General Ecklen Kudontoni that the party will rule Malawi beyond 50 years.

MCP Deputy Campaign director Joseph Njobvuyalema, MP speaking to Nyasa Times in an interview on his return from Windhoek in Namibia, where he went to open this year Southern African a Development Community (SADC) parliamentary forum in his capacity as chairman.

Njobvuyalema said Kudontoni remarks are unpalatable especially during the time when Malawi is undergoing the electoral healing process.

“Everyone knows that there were a lot of anomalies during the last year’s elections, now for him to be saying like that is a great insult not only to MCP alone but to all Malawians. Reports are already there indicating [DPP won is ruling after a fraudulent polls],” Said Njobvuyalema.

Njobvuyalema asked Kudontoni to take his tongue, saying politics is dynamic.

During the Parliamentary SADC meeting, delegates discussed about governance and democratization in SADC region electoral reports from Zambia, Namibia, Mauritius and Lesotho.

On top of that, SADC delegates discussed about plans to have standard electoral laws.

“Once the process is adopted, after thorough consultations, Malawi will benefit a lot,” said Njobvuyalema.
