MCP told to stop using Malawi flag colours
The opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has been told by the governing People’s Party (PP) to stop using National flag colours of black, red and green on its party materials.
PP asked MCP to revert to their original flag of green with a black cok which its former president John Tembo and his colleagues were using in the past.
Deputy Spokesperson for PP, Ken Msond, said MCP were using the national flag “illegally” for party purposes.

Msonda said the use of National flag as a party flag by MCP “will confuse voters” during the form coming tripartite elections.
However, the PP spokesperson has hailed MCP for changing its slogan.
The slogan has changed from ‘Kamuzu, Pulezidenti wamuyaya M’malawi’ to ‘ Kamuzu, Tate wa pfuko la Malawi’, according to MCP Deputy Director of Political Affairs, M.L. Thyolera.
“We have also changed ‘Ifee tonse Boma’ to ‘Ife tonse, tisayiwale’. We have done this realising that despite the changes that Malawi has gone through, Kamuzu remains the Father and Founder of oir nation,” says Thyolera.
