MCP VP Msowoya warns Kasungu people on handouts
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has warned people of Kasungu that they risk suffering from continued serious social economic challenges if they get easily carried away by handouts like cloth and money from other un development conscious political parties.
MCP’s First Vice President Richard Msowoya , who is also Speaker of Parliament, was addressing people on Wednesday in the area of Senior Group Village Headman Kantchembere in the district when he welcomed back to the party its two former members Deborah Tchule and Dorothy Chidaya.
Tchule was zone governor for Mponda Ward in Kasungu while Chidaya was a member.
The duo ditched MCP and joined the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) before changing their minds to join Peoples Party on reasons that they were promised big money and developments in their areas.
The two told the gathering they are back to their mother party after noticing the parties were not development conscious besides failing to fulfill pledges.
But Msowoya said MCP is the party that cares and he called on all to vote for Jonathan Kayafa Tembo as ward councilor for Bunda Ward during the November 21, 2016 by-elections if they wand development.
There were no immediate reactions from DPP and PP.
Malawi Electoral Commission is holding by-elections in Bunda Ward to give people second chance to elect a new councilor since Bernard Theu of DPP passed on in July this year.
