Malawi national team and Blue Eagles upcoming midfielder Mecium Mhone is expected to fly to South Africa on Thursday this week to undergo one week trials at Jomo Cosmos who have just regained promotion into the top South African Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Blue Eagles General Secretary Ackings Muwanga confirmed the development in an interview on Tuesday.
Muwanga however revealed that another club is also seeking the services of Mhone but could not be drawn to comment further claiming he will reveal the name of the club at an appropriate time.
“It is true that the lad [Mecium] is departing on Thursday to undergo trials at Jomo Cosmos. We have again been approached by another South African Club seeking his services but I will comment later; at the moment let us talk about the Jomo Cosmos issue” said Muwanga.
He said the player is going to Cosmos with all the blessings from the club and that they are optimistic that he will successfully pass the trials.
Mhone will be the first Malawian player from the Malawi Police Service to play professional football if he succeeds during the trials.
Mhone produced a fantastic performance during the Flames participation at the 2015 Cosafa Cup Edition that was played in South Africa recently and helped the club to win the Cosafa Plate Trophy.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
