Mhone takes over from Mary Waya as Malawi U-20 coach

Netball Association of Malawi ( NAM) has appointed Civonets vast experienced netballer, Connis Mhone as Malawi Under-20 Queens coach ahead of the Zone VI Youth Games scheduled for December in Zambia.

Mhone has taken over the mantle from Mary ‘Atcheya’ Waya, who picked a job in Tanzania.The former MTL and Malawi Queens evergreen shooter now works as Tanzania’s  Taifa Queens’s consultant.

Nam’s President, Rose Chinunda told Nyasa Timesthat, Mhone was chosen because of her experience as far as Malawi’s netball is concerned.

“Mhone is one of the well experienced netballers in the country,   and we feel she is eligible for this post,” said Chinunda.

Chinunda also lamented that, Mhone will be responsible for recruiting players, hence the early appointment.

She also expressed confidence that, Mhone  is capable of defending the Under-20 gold medal which Malawi won two years ago in Swaziland.

During the Swaziland tournament, there were players like Rihana Mtenje, Funny Mwale, Thandi Magaleta, Lauren and Memory Ngwira, who helped the team to grab the trophy.
