Mia apologises to President Banda for ‘bad dream’

Transport and Public Works Minister Sidik Mia has apologised to President Joyce Banda for the ‘bad dream’ she experienced during late Bingu wa Mutharika’s reign.

He also promised Malawi’s and Southern Africa’s first woman president of over 400,000 votes from the Lower Shire.

He told thousands gathered at Khombedza, Ngabu, in Chikwawa district that it was him who told late Mutharika that JB was the only ideal person for vice presidency during a trip in the Lower Shire before the campaign in 2009 for presidency kicked off.

“It was the three of us when I told Bingu this. If we said anything wrong to you please forgive us. Consider it that you were sleeping and dreaming the bad dream. But now that you are awake, this
is the reality, you are our beloved leader,” he said.

Mia then gave a cow to the president and also announced Chief Ngabu’ cow gift.

He was speaking during celebrations rally in Ngabu to mark first 100 days of President Banda in office.

The celebrations started on Wednesday with prayers in Lilongwe. On Friday there were exhibitions in Blantyre to showcase some of the development activities that have been done by the President from the time she was Joyce Banda the person till now, the event climaxed in Ndirande with a mass rally.

On Saturday the pomp moved to College of Medicine where the celebrations centred on Joyce Banda the President which saw various Ministries and donor representatives make presentations on how they rated Banda’s achievements in the hundred days she has been in office.

President Banda was sworn in as president on April 7, this year following the death of Bingu wa Mutharika who died of cardiac arrest.
