Mia donates vehicle, breeding livestock to Malawi muslims

Politician-cum-businessman Sidik Muhammad Mia over the weekend, through the Sidik Mia Foundation, donated a K10 million worth 3 tonner truck and 20 beef cattle to some two Islamic orgizations in a twin ceremony that took place at Mangochi boma.

Braving the heavy pouring of the first rains with so much pomp, the affluent jacks of various trades including the business community had wholeheartedly supported the course in a long convoy of over 30 vehicles from the direction of Monkey-bay, branching at Mangochi trafficking robots, all the way to the function venue.

Speaking before the handover ceremony, in his capacity as Chairman & Founder of Sidik Mia Foundation, Mia an El Hadj himself, pledged never to quit assitting Islamic groups and communities as his religion calls on him and every other Muslim to share with those in need.

Stressed Mia: “You can take my word that I will never leave u alone in as far as I live and will always come in to assist whenever need arises.”

Mia, who recently joined Malawi Congress Party (MCP)  also took advantage of the occasion to downplay his critics who, instead of following suit in engaging in charitable works, waste their time insulting him.

“What wrong have I done to them  to warrant me such insults,” Mia quirried and continued: “Why can’t they just focus on charity instead of wasting time on sheer jealous that is cheaply revealed through their insults?”

Mia, who is regarded as political mugwump in the Lower Shire, assured the mammoth gathering of Muslim Women and his fellow Muslim brothers that the money he had used for buying the donation his own and not from the tax payers or Cashgate proceeds.

In his remarks, Ishmael Yusuf who is Chairperson of Muslim Welfare Trust hailed Mia for fulfilling his promise hence described him as a man of his word fit to be called both a religious and political leader.

Yusuf also praised Mia for over the years striving to keep his reputation clean, a rare achievement that has won him a lot of public trust thus putting him on the highest rank of the surviving politician with a clean record.

Likewise, the Chairlady of the Muslim Women Association, Hawa Shaibu whose organization had received a donation of 20 cows was in high praise of Mia for such unimaginable kind gesture.

Shaibu’s praise was attributed to Abida Mia, wife of Sidik Mia for living a outstanding life of charity and hard work that has characterized and shaped the life of the Mias which is rare to find in a world of ours.

“She is such a strong and loving woman who has remained a powerful wind beneath the wings of a charitable man we adoringly regard as full of leadership qualities with a strong foundation of clean record,” Shaibu said.

Apart from the vehicle and the cattle Mia also donated rolls of sander cloth that is used for wrapping body of the departed Muslim.
