Minister Mtambo accepts personal aide resignation

Minister of Civic Education and National Unity Timothy Mtambo says he has been forced to accept the resignation of his personal aide due to a public uproar in social media platforms.

Mtambo: I have accepted the resignation reluctantly

Lyson Sibande, a social media activist was on Wednesday forced to resign after a social media storm following Tonse Alliance accusations that he was a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cadet.

Mtambo said he respected Sibande’s decision to resign following the barrage of criticism and said people should take responsibility of what they say, write and own their past.

“I have worked with him at CFT and he proved to be good that is why I picked him for this task. It is unfortunate that things have turned this way,” he said.

However, some people have taken up on the same social media platforms to condemn the Tonse Alliance social activists for blocking Sibande from taking up the job, saying this was the same mentality which the DPP cadets had in blocking people deemed opposition members from taking government jobs.

Malawi if for all Malawians regarless of whether you are a cadet or not..on the other hand belonging to DPP does not make you a Cadet but a bonafide member with opinion different from the other parties. Let us learn to leave Malawians albeit different party affiliations…

All these people have said terrible things and even changed parties (Chilima etc) have they resigned. NO. So there was no need for Sibande to resign just because he used to support Mutharika.

I don’t think those that opposed the appointment did it out of tribalistic inexactitude. Lyson Sibande was a toxic in the Alliance administration. The choice by Hon Mtambo also goes to show his lack of judgement. He should have done his home work before appointing him to the position. This nescient behavior is not synonymous with just Hon Mtambo. It is in the entire alliance administration. The alliance government seem to lack a well thought out vetting process. As a result we have not only cadets from the previous government being left in strategic positions that can easily derail the… Read more »

Declaration of Victory and third Revolution

We were battered, bruised and called bad names by cadets and they wounds are still bleeding. The family of area 24 is still mourning those dpp killed and unless we know the truth about what was going on, we cannot accept people like Sibande just over-night. Imagine what MBC did to us and do we call them saints now. These guys just want to continue from where they stopped. We have educated fools like Dr. Charles Fodya, Steve Maseya, Sumbuleta, Itaye, Mwapasa etc, and we cannot accept such guys just now. We are not saying they are bad and not… Read more »

Lyson Sibande is too extreme to be taken on board. He was too personal and obsessed with Mutharika worship. He never thought his god Mutharika will be out of government one day. When poverty was rising due to poor policies by his god Mutharika, Lyson was happy and thought it was normal. Sorry we can’t allow someone who fought against change to enjoy the fruits of change directly , noooo. He can’t be on government payroll. Never will get any government job. He was too useless in his attacks of MCP/UTM. Let him go to Mutharika, he will hire him… Read more »
