Malawian singer Mau, currently based in England, on Thursday released the visuals for his new release “Miss Beautiful” off his upcoming EP.
The song features rapper JJ. The Video for “Miss Beautiful” was shot and directed by Aubrey Mvula.
Born Mau Nteteka, the artist was raised where he discovered he has some serious music in him and worked with a lot of Malawian artists including Lulu, George Mkandawire, Gosple, Bleek and Khethi.
“I have done music for as long as I can remember and it runs in my family, literally,” says Mau, a brother to 2013 Sunbird Search for a Star runner up Chichi Nteteka.
“Miss Beautiful is my first song to be released in Malawi but I have produced for other artists even though they would never know it because I have always been a ghost producer and I love that,” he explains.
Having pledged to use his voice as a tool for change, 2015 is destined to be the year Mau makes good on this promise. With his standing as a social activist, campaigning for subjects such domestic violence and child abuse, Mau works closely with charities, building on the spiritual upbringing by his family.
With a strong musical foundation built in the UK scene already, having sung at a Black History event for former South African President late Nelson Mandela, and having worked with Claire Fuller (American Pop Idol), Hez Thuo who produced for Big Brovaz, Alexander Burke of The Audio Republik, having also gained support from a number of patrons at the Academy of Contemporary Music (Guildford UK), all of which support a beautiful future he hopes.
“Miss Beautiful” has already turned heads with its fresh take on the Afrobeats genre. With this and a number of other releases planned for the year, Mau sets the scene for a number of fantastic tracks that promise to speak to the ears and hearts of those striving for equality.
