Management for Miss Blantyre announces the first ever mega photo shoot for all ladies in Blantyre as one way to engage them to a key component of the pageant.
The photo shoot will take place on Saturday 27th August 2016 at Malawi Sun Hotel Pool Side from 8:30am to 4pm.
The announcement comes at a time when preparations for Miss Blantyre 2016 are underway.
“Through this photo shoot, most ladies will discover their potential in modeling and those willing to contest for Miss Blantyre will be registered,”said Vanessa Mdhuli who is the Fashion Officer for the pageant.
“We would like to use this professional photo shoot as both a rare treat for Blantyre girls and women who have always formed an integral part of the Miss Blantyre pageant. We will also use it as an information day where models can get more details about the upcoming Miss Blantyre on November 4th 2016 at Comesa Hall,” said Mdhuli.
Commenting on the same event, Miss Blantyre Chairperson Daniel Ngwira said they find history quite a mockery to our girls as there has been little or no effort at all to give them an experience to professional shoots which is a basic and common culture in other pageants and competing markets. He said through the Saturday shoot, they will conduct short modeling clinics which will also help the girls understand what modeling is about and the core values of the Miss Blantyre Pageant.
“At a time we will audition Miss Blantyre contestants in September, we will have given them all thorough training and allow everyone an opportunity to discover something special about them. This way, our auditions will be so fair and merited,” said Ngwira.
Miss Blantyre beauty contest this year focuses on the girl child in school. This explains why management decided to limit the shoot to ladies. It is expected that participants will also brainstorm ways in which through the Miss Blantyre office, models can jointly help inspire all girls to be in school and aim high in life.
At the photo shoot, ladies will be expected to bring several outfits to change in the various categories of the shoot.
Formerly top models from Blantyre City led by reigning Miss Blantyre Chisomo Machelo will also be part of the day.
Regina Nzima, formerly a Miss Blantyre Princess commended the initiative and encouraged the organisers to consider doing more of these so as to build more confidence in the girls and also interact with guardians and parents so that they appreciate the discipline and clear some of the stereotypes.
The photo shoot is expected to attract a lot of girls in Blantyre and promises to be one of the best. Sparkling Photography is the Official Miss Blantyre Photographic Company this year.
