Missing girl found alive in Lilongwe: Malawi Police arrest 32 in Liwonde mayhem

A 21-year-old Form Four school student of Mawira Private Secondary School in Liwonde Township in Machinga who went missing last Thursday has been found in Lilongwe  alive.

Following her mysterious dissapperance, students Monday night smashed and burnt down a house of businessman Victor Mtuwa allegedly for kidnapping student Faith Kasiya.

The students suspected that Faith and other girls were kidnapped and were being kept by Mtuwa at a basement in his house.

But Faith’s uncle, Hilarious Kachiswe, said the girl  has been found safe ar her  mother’s place at Mitundu in Lilongwe.

“Faith appeared ar her mohter’s house on Tuesday,” Kachiswe said.

He, however, said the girl was looking “ weak and disturbed.”

According  to the uncle. Faith could not explain where she was and how she found herself in Lilongwe.

Kachiswe said Faith was taken to Mlare Mission Hospital in Lilongwe.

Faith comes from Mpota Village, Traditional authority Zulu in Mchinji.

Meanwhile,  Malawi Police have said a total of 32 people  have been arrested  for mayhem at  Mtuwa’s house in the low density housing area of Mawira where they  smashed and looted assorted household items on Monday night before setting the house on fire.

Propety worth K80 million, including the house, had been lost in the violence.

Machinga Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), constable Davie Sulumba said of the 32 who have been arrested, two have been charged with  arson, 27 with  inciting violence while three have been slapped with conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

Mtuwa is currently hiding at undisclosed place as he fears people are baying for his life. He comes from Mkumba Village, Traditional Authority Bwana Nyambi in Mangochi.

Police must imvestigate if the girl found in her home mistriously or went on her own, look property distroyed some arrested because of her she must be also arrested.

Its simple. The guy actual;ly took the girl to Lilongwe to cover himself. Such people, who are also in league with some scrupulous police bosses, must be locked up for good.

Well done girls for beating such human trafficking and kidnapping crime.

RAC and other organisations, since aboma ngachitsilu, must investigate.

we need more info on this. what prompted the people to suspect that the said student(s) was/were being held by Mtuwa?? this type of journalism which leaves out critical info is outdated!! this is no time for this type of journalism.
