Mixed feelings on Mutharika’s African Leadership Award, Prophet Bushiri congratulates

As denouncement and congratulations continue to conflictingly stretch President  Peter Mutharika’s African Leadership award, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has weighed in with a surprise pat in the President’s back.

Braving the persecution that  he recieves from the Mutharika regime, the man of God has demonstrated the spirit of gospel by pushing everything aside and congratulate president Mutharika for earning the award.

“I would like to congratulate Malawi President, Professor Peter Mutharika for the prestigious Great Leadership Award and Medal of Honor in recognition of his ‘exceptional leadership,” said Major 1 on his Facebook timeline.

African Leadership Magazine conferred on Mutharika the African Leadership Award and Medal of Honour in recognition of his outstanding posturing as one of the continent’s thought leaders.

On the choice of Mutharika for the award, previously conferred on other leaders such as former presidents Hifikepunye Pohamba of Namibia, Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, John Kufuor of Ghana, Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania and Mo Ibrahim, founder of Mo Ibrahim Prize for Leadership, United Kingdom-based magazine’s publisher and chief executive officer Ken Giami said the President was recognised for his “outstanding posturing” as one of Africa’s most distinguished thought leaders and champion of the masses.

The award has however attracted mixed reaction, with some Malawians  arguing on Facebook who have largely question the criteria of the allocation of the award with others quashing the credibility of the issuing institution.

But reacting to it, Prophet Bushiri wrote:”I believe in recognizing the efforts of others. A person can never be a failure at everything. This award simply shows that our president has demonstrated great vision in some areas to get recognized internationally by the African Leadership Magazine which according to reports, has also awarded other great African Leaders.”

The enduring man of God further tossed that it has always been his prayer that Malawi should be known globally for the good reasons above the usual African sad news.

Meanwhile, Malawi is enduring the path of poor leadership with poor service delivery and corruption taking competing tolls.

The government machinery is, while slapping the nation with unprecedented blackouts, currently shy at prosecuting cashgate culprits

According to State House director of communications Bright Molande, The award demonstrated that when the world out there looks at Malawi, they see great things despite Malawians being concerned with their day-to-day challenges.

I agree with you Bushiri that its true noone can be good in everything. It is only God who is 100% good but with us humans we have strengths and weaknesses so it is good to realise such in any leader be it yourself and other church leaders, CSO leaders, community leaders, etc. Bravo for that.

Iwe bushiri stop kissing ass to gain political favors. Try what you might the DPP won’t let you in. I can comfortably say Peter Mutharika is a failure at EVERYTHING. That’s why even on the global stage he has managed to make Malawi the poorest country on earth. That’s a strong testament to his legacy.

Tsalani a MCP musakukhulupilira. A person has strong side and weak side as well. Some problems cannot be eradicated in a day and that does not mean you are foolish. The way you behave when drunk does not make you a failure or less intelligent
