Mlaka concert in Manchester Sept 27: ‘One-show only’
After registering his presence at Miss Malawi UK show in Birmingham, Malawi’s musician Mlaka Maliro has confirmed he will headline a special performance in Manchester on September 27 before his return home.

Organisers of Miss Malawi UK event said Mlaka will headline the concert which has a line-up of artists such as Marko Sadik and Ireland-based hip hop artist Pop Dogg.
“Mlaka will perform with a live band in Manchester. It’s a one-gig only for him,” said Kondi Bowoyeko Munthali.
He said Mlaka was busy rehearsing with a full strength band line up with drummer Joe Chimbalangondo and dancers ready to deliver the old master class performances synonymous with Kamandidutsadutsa star.
“Newly crowned Miss Malawi UK, Rose Mmangisa will also be in attendance as well as the finalists during the pageant,” he added.
Mlaka, arguably one of the top Malawian musicians, switched from secular music to gospel. But even in secular songs his tracks mostly were extracts from the scriptures.
He will perform most of his hit songs, including Dzanja Lalemba, Chikhwaya Chakumangochi, Maloto, and Mukandinenere.
The artist has however maintained the same beat that made Dzanja Lalemba a bestseller 14 years ago.
Speaking in an interview from Birmingham where he is currently based, Mlaka said “Malawians should expect a night of bliss down memory lane as I will once again prove to them that Mlaka is Mlaka with a good performance.”
The concert will be held from 9PM to morning at a fee cover of £20 all.
The venue is Sol House, 117 Fairfield Street, M12 6EL, and Manchester City.
