Mouth watering fixtures in Carlsberg Cup Malawi: Draw conducted

The first national preliminary round of the prestigious Carlsberg Cup games are expected to kick-off on 30-31 May after Football Association of Malawi ( FAM) conducted the first draw at Chiwembe Technical Centre in the commercial of Malawi, Blantyre.

The draw was conducted by FAM Competitions manager Gomezgani Zakazaka and Carlsberg Malawi Events Coordinator Jibu Risasi Nyirenda on Wednesday.

The draw produced some mouth watering fixtures with the notable ones involving Cobbe Barracks and Max Bullets; while former Super League out-fit Blantyre United will tussle against Nyasa United.

In the central region of Malawi, spectators will likely expect the fixture involving Nsundwe United against Support Battalion.

Another notable fixture will be Kasungu Police against Hard Knockers, while Silver Strikers Reserve will have a home advantage as they will engage Dwangwa United.

From the northern part of Malawi, Kaporo United against Chirumba Barracks will attract a huge crowd, while Rumphu United will play Kabwafu.

The winner between Rumphi United and Kabwafu will take on Karonga United.

According to Zakazaka they expect stiff competition during the games, which are expected to kick-off on 30 May this year.

Carlsberg Malawi Events Coordinator Vibs Nyirenda described the draw as fair and urge soccer lovers to patronize the matches.

Nyirenda also urged supporters to desist from violence during matches.

The second phase of the cup will involve the nine teams, which will qualify from the regional leagues to join the 15 Super League teams for the national draw to take place on June 23.

Top eight teams from the regional league standings Big Bullets, Moyale Barracks, Mafco , Blue Eagles, Silver Strikers, Civo United, Azam Tigers and Red Lions will be seeded for the National Phase preliminary round.

The remaining seven Super League teams, Mighty Wanderers, Kamuzu Barracks, Epac, Airborne Rangers, Sure Stream, Dedza Young Soccer and Mzuni will join the nine regional league teams to make the national phase preliminary round of 16 which will be played between 30th June and 12th July 2015.

The eight winning teams from that round will then join the seeded eight Super League teams for the National phase round of 16 to be played between 18th and 26th July 2015.

Quarter finals will be played between 1st and 2nd August with semifinals set for weekends between 15th 23rd August.

The final will be played on 29th August 2015.

Northern Region

  1. Kaporo United vs Chirumba Barracks
  2. Rumphi Medicals vs Kabwafu United.
  3. Karonga United vs winner between Rumphi or Kabwafu.

 

Central Region

1.Black Eagles vs Mitundu United

  1. Silver Strikers Reserve vs Dwangwa United

3.Occaso FC vs Master Security

  1. Nsundwe United vs Support Battalion
  2. Civo Reserve vs Kasungu Medicals
  3. Kasungu Police vs Hard Knockers.

Winners match 2 vs 6.

Winners match 1 vs 4.

Southern Region

  1. Ndirande Icons vs Prison United
  2. Cobbe Barracks vs Max Bullets
  3. Nchalo United vs Green Hawks
  4. Blantyre United vs Nyasa United.
  5. Changalume Barracks vs Envirom
  6. Zomba United vs Bvumbwe Research

Winner match 6 vs 1.

Winner match 4 vs 5.

Winner match 2 vs 3.
