Malawi Police at Nkhunga Station in Nkhotakota are keeping in custody a Malawian movie actor Aaron Chambo of Chambo Great Movies (CGM) for abducting a 16 year old girl.
Nkhunga Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sub Inspector Labani Makalani said the actor who is based at Chigumula was arrested on Saturday 6th February, 2016 at Matiki Trading Centre after the mother of the girl complained at the police.
Sub Inspector Makalani said according to the mother, the girl went missing on 5th February and police investigations revealed that the actor spent a night at Riverside Rest House with the girl.
The girl is a form 3 student at Majiga Community Day Secondary School in Nkhotakota.
According to police, medics failed to establish whether the girl was defiled after she was taken to hospital.
But Police said Chambo confessed that he has been dating the girl for about a year but he was not aware of her age.
Chambo aged 24 hails from Kachingwe Village, T/A Chikumbu in Mulanje.
He is expected to appear before court soon to answer a charge of abducting a 16 year old girl which is contrary to Section 136 of the Penal Code.
Chambo has produced a number of movies including Trash, Three days, My Mum, Pregnant Man among others.
