MP Kalindo tells court Mutharika branded Wandale nuisance and hemp smoker
President Peter Mutharika branded Vincent Wandale, the People’s Land Organisation (PLO) leader as a nuisance and cannabis smker, according to a testimony by Mulanje South member of parliament Bon Kalindo.
Kalindo, a comedian popular known as Winiko, was testifying at Blantyre magistrate court as defence witness.
He told the court that despite President Mutharika not taking the PLO leader seriously, he has much respect for him, saying he is very patriotic and ready to fight for his people and not disappear in times of problems.
Wandale, according to Kalindo, “is one rare breed who understands that we are in a democratic dispensation where everybody is empowered to fight for his rights.”
Kalindo said he together with Wandale met Mutharika over the land issue in Mulanje and Thyolo but faulted the President for not coming up with solution.
He said the people of Mulanje and Thyolo are “suffering” saying the land redistribution in tea estate needs “urgent attention.”
